Celtic Jewelry

Celtic jewelry designs are based on those of ancient Celtic peoples artistic achievements. Celtic art has long been regarded as the relic of an archaic culture and people who once lived in the British Isles and other parts of Europe. It was an enchanting style created by the craftsmanship of the ancient Celts who settled in Ireland, centuries ago. Celtic designs display an immense richness of design and symbolism.

Celtic craftsmen adapted ideas from nature to produce intricate designs based on simple motifs, using bronze, gold and silver. From these they created wonderfully sophisticated ornaments. Between 2000 BC and 500 AD gold and silver were used to make beautifully worked personal jewelry, some of which you can see today on display for in the National Museum of Ireland. This Celtic jewelry was traded across the Mediterranean because of its beauty and craftsmanship.
