Caring for Crystal Jewelry

     First of all, keep your crystal jewelry clean. Lotions, powders, soaps and skin oils can build up on your crystal and cut down on its brilliance. To clean transparent crystalline gemstones, they can simply be soaked in water with a touch of mild soap or ammonia. If necessary, you can use a toothbrush to scrub the stone and then rinse it with luke-warm water allowing to dry.
Store your jewelry in a clean and dry place- a fabric lined jewelry box with compartments would be ideal. If using an ordinary box, wrap each piece individually. Hard crystals can scratch softer ones.

     Avoid immersing your jewelry in chemicals like chlorine. Remove your jewelry before going in a hot tub or pool. As well, be careful when using ultrasonic cleaners as they can damage some gemstones. If there are inclusions in the natural crystal it can weaken the structure and make it more vulnerable to breakage.
