Treating Crystal:

     There are many different gemstone and crystal jewelry treatments or enhancements that can create beautiful qualities in otherwise simple natural stones and crystal. These treatments can enhance and improve the appearance or durability of crystals and crystal jewelry, and even change the colour.

Some common treatments include:

Heating: This can be used to lighten, darken, or change the colour of crystal, or improve the clarity of one.

Irradiation: This treatment can add more colour to coloured crystal.

Impregnating: This is when oils, waxes or resins are used to make a variety of imperfections less visible and improve clarity and the appearance of crystal jewelry and the durability.

Diffusion treatment: This adds colour to the crystal jewelry.

Dyeing: This adds colour to crystals by improving colour uniformity.

Bleaching: This lightens and whitens some gems and crystal.
