Diamond PricingGeneral Diamond Pricing: - $125 - $500: This is the VERY minimum that you can expect to spend for a diamond engagement ring - if this is your price range you should consider gemstones instead. The carat weight that you could expect at this price would be about 0.15-0.25 ct and the diamond quality would be unknown, as AGS and GIA don't certify diamonds that cheap. - $500 - $700: The same as the previous category, gemstones will be a better option than diamonds here. The carat weight you can expect to be around 0.20 - 0.37, with unknown quality. - $750- $1000: At this price range you will start to see value for your dollars. The stones are still on the small end of the scale but the are AGS and GIA certified and therefore you know the value of what you are buying. You can get a diamond of about 0.3 - 0.5 carats. - $1000 - $2000: At this price range you will find high quality stones - in the 0.3 - 0.75. - $2000 - $3500: You can find absolutely exquisite quality diamonds in the low carat end of this range (0.4-1.0) for this price. If you are looking at 1 carat diamonds at this price be careful because they often have inclusions, mediocre quality or a low grade cut. - $3500 - $5000: This is the lowest price range where you can expect to find some nice quality 1 carat stones. The smaller stones in this price range will be of greater value and quality, but you can find one carat diamonds that look good to the naked eye. - $5000 - $7500: You can get very nice diamonds in the 1 carat range in this category. The 2 carat diamonds in this price range will most likely have a problem with one of the "4 c's". - $7500 - $10000: In this price range you can find some fabulous diamonds - both big and of high quality. The best value is generally found in the 1-1.5 carat range. You can still find good diamonds in the 1.5 - 1.75 range. Anything above 1.75 - 2.5 will most likely have some flaws. - $10000- $15000: This is the lowest price range where you can reasonbly expect to find some good 2 carat diamonds. The 1 carat stones are phenominal in this range. The 2.2-3 carat stones in this range generally have some flaws. At this amount of carat you will begin to have less selection to choose from. - $15000 - $20000: The 1 carats in this range are the best of the best and are generally diamonds with the highest possible grade in the four c's. 2.5 - 3 carat diamonds might contain some flaws. - $20000 - $30000: In this price range you can expect to find excellent quality stones up to 2.8 carats. Anything higher may contain flaws. - $30000 - $60000: In this range you can expect to find good quality diamonds up to 3 carats. - $ 60000: Diamonds in this price range are greater than 3 carats and will require customized settings as most settings generally only accommodate up to three carats.
