Selecting an Online StoreThere are certain things that you should expect when selecting an online jewelry store that will make your e-shopping more pleasant. * Customer Service: Some people shop online in order to avoid sales people - but you may need to ask a question or change your order along the way. Therefore, it is useful if the online store where you shop has a phone number that you can call for customer service. * Return Policy: You should always read the sites return policy carefully. Some sites will claim a 30-day return policy, but if you read the fine print often there is a re-stocking fee. Generally, any item that has been engraved or in any way personalized will not qualify for the stores return policy. It is strongly recommended to only shop at stores with at least a 30 day return policy. If there is no return policy on the website, don't shop at it. * Manner of Shipment: You want to make sure when buying expensive pieces of jewelry that the store that you bought it from uses insured carriers for shipping their merchandise (i.e., FedEx, UPS), and that all shipments are insured for the full value of their purchase. * Lost/ Damaged Shipment Policy: A store should have a policy for lost or damaged shipments and should be more than willing to replace or refund a damaged or lost item. * Certificates: Certificates should always accompany any piece of jewelry with precious stones (i.e., diamonds). These certificates come from a variety of labs. It is recommended to only buy diamonds from websites that provide either AGS or GIA (the worlds top labs) certificates. These are recommended but you can get some really nice diamonds without these specific certifications. Related Links
