Naval Jewelry
The most important thing that you must
consider when having your navel pierced is
to prevent infection. There are some tips that you can follow to make
sure that you avoid infection.
- Go to a registered shop to have it done. The shop must comply with
health regulations:
- The shop is clean and hygienic.
- Instruments and jewelry used to pierce skin must be sterilised.
- The operator should not have exposed cuts or wounds and their clothes
must be clean.
- Operators must keep accurate records on their clients.
Caring for your Piercing:
It takes about 6 - 10 weeks for a pierced
navel to heal. It is important to do the following:
- Don't touch or handle the piercing unnecessarily.
- Don't twirl or turn the jewelry unnecessarily for the first month
or so.
- Wash the navel daily with anti-bacterial soap.
- Remove any drying secretions or crusts while bathing.
- Regularly bathe or immerse the navel in warm salty water,
but use sea slat not iodized table salt.
- Pat the area dry with a clean towel or paper towel.
- Wash the navel after swimming or doing exercise.
- Don't remove the jewelry before the wound has healed.
- If you develop pain, swelling, inflammation or yellow puss you should
see your doctor immediately. An infection can be treated with antibiotics.
