     The nipple is one of the most popular piercing sites for both men and women. It has been long practiced as a fashion statement at various times and in various locations, including 19th century London and Paris. It is said that a pierced nipple enhances sensitivity and sexual pleasure and is also used for fixing inverted nipples. As well, it has been suggested that wearing a nipple ring doesn't interfere with breast feeding.

Getting the piercing:
     It is very important to choose an experienced piercer, to reduce the risk of infection. Hygiene is very important and if the instruments aren't sterilized between clients you may catch a blood-born disease. Therefore, your piercer should be registered.
You should never attempt to pierce your own nipple.

The procedure includes these steps:
- The points of entry and exit are marked onto the nipple.
- The area is wiped clean with antiseptic.
- The area is anaesthetized or tightly clamped.
- A thin, sharp tube (a canula) is pushed through the nipple using the marks as guides.
